![]() Eagle Dustoff by Ronald Wong Dustoff 913 of HHC 326th Medical Battalion, Air Ambulance Platoon, 101st Airborne Division (Airmobile) hoists aboard a wounded trooper during the height of a sustained night attack. Southwest of fire support base Bastogne in Northern I Corps, D Company, 2/501st was suffering heavy casualties while caught over a gigantic NVA tunnel and bunker complex. True to the Dustoff tradition of "when I have your wounded" seventeen Distinguished Flying Crosses were awarded to the four Dustoff crews that, despite heavy ground fire, continued to rescue wounded troopers from the triple canopy jungle during the battle of 15-16 April 1971.
