by

On February 20, 1815 two British men-of-war, a light frigate
of 34 guns and a corvette of 22 guns set their sights for a heavy American
frigate. The first shot was fired at sunset and within an hour the British
ship H.M.S. Cyane surrendered and after a nearly two-hour
pursuit the H.M.S. Levant followed suit. The heavy American frigate
was the famed U.S.S. Constitution, "Old Ironsides," with three
victories and no defeats to her credit.
