Major Leo Thorsness and his backseater Captain Harold H. Johnson were close to the 100 mission mark, when on 19 Apr. 67 he led a flight of four F-105's engaging eight Mig-17's fighters and undetermined number of SA-2 Guideline surface-to-surface missiles and antiaircraft guns. For his actions, Major Thorsness was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor
