NJG-1
by
Michael Turner
During the Defense of the Reich in late 1944,
numerous encounters
occurred between RAF Lancaster bombers and Luftwaffe ME-110 G-4
Night Fighters. Major Heinz-Wolfgang Schnaufer, with 121 aerial
victories at night, the most successful night fighter pilot of WW II,
scored
his 100th kill at 8:55 PM on the 9th of October 1944 over the Ruhr Valley.
Depicting this action, aviation artist Michael Turner has painted the
most accurate portrayal of this event ever rendered. This print is signed
by 11 Knights Cross winning night fighter aircrews.
Each certificate of authenticity is personally signed
by Fritz Rumpelhardt, Schnaufer's radioman and the only living witness
to the action depicted. Each print is signed personally by: Major Martin
Drewes, Oberst im Generalstab Wolfgang Falk, Haptmann Hermann Greiner,
Oberslt Joachim Jabs, Hapt. Fritz Lau, Hapt. Ludwig Meister, Major Hubert
Rauh, Leut. Frityz Rumpelhardt, Hapt. Dietrich Schmidt, and Oberlt. Erich
Weisflog.
