USS Enterprise at the Battle of Santa Cruz

Lt. Stanley W. "Swede" Vejtasa of VF-10, circles his F4F Wildcat fighter over the USS Enterprise as a Nakijima 'Kate' torpedo bomber is flamed before it can launch it's deadly cargo against the American carrier. On this day, "Swede" Vejtasa set a record for Wildcat pilots with seven victories during a single mission. On this mission, Vejtasa claimed five 'Vals' and 2 'Kates', and thru his actions possibly saved the Enterprise from destruction. Lt. Vejtasa received the Navy Cross for his flying and gunnery skills at the Battle of Santa Cruz.
