![]() Desert Emils on Patrol by Kostas Kavvadias In August of 1941, a Swarme of 4 aircraft from 1/JG 27, fly low over the Libyan desert, on a fighter sweep over British lines. Arriving in North Africa in March of 1941, JG 27 went on to become one of the legendary German fighter groups of all time. The nearest aircraft, ‘Black ‘8’, belongs to Oberleutnant Werner Schroer. Schroer went on to score 114 victories throughout the war, 26 of which were four engine bombers. The other 3 aircraft depicted are “Black 9’, Black 7, and Black 11’, all belonging to this legendary unit.
