First of Many is one of Robert Taylor’s most sought after earlier paintings that was completed in 1981 and depicts Britain’s most famous Spitfire Fighter Ace, Sir Douglas Bader, about to engage his first aerial victory of World War II. In recognition of Robert’s great artistic accomplishment, Sir Douglas graciously inscribed his name in oil on the face of this magnificent oil painting just prior to his death in 1982.
