Sopwith Camels of 201 Squadron RAF are attacked by German Fokker Triplanes in early 1918. (The RAF was newly formed from the previous RFC). This very unique canvas depicts aerial combat during the romantic era of aerial warfare, when chivalry was uppermost and honor a tradition. What makes this scenario especially fascinating is that it shows the human point of view as well as the impersonal, machine-versus-machine aspect.

The original canvas is unusually large for this artist, being a staggering sixty three inches across! Lots of detail in the print!
